Senior Robotics Software Engineer
About this role
The Battlespace Awareness Command and Control Software team at Anduril Industries builds Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. Engineers joining this group focus on path planning, route optimization, and autonomous mission execution at the command and control layer. Day-to-day work involves prototyping and deploying state-of-the-art algorithms for global and local path planning, trajectory optimization, and multi-agent coordination within operational platforms.
This role exists to deliver advanced technologies with mission-critical applications that orchestrate fleets of unmanned systems in dynamic, uncertain, and contested environments. Successful candidates typically bring extensive background in algorithm design, mathematical modeling, and systems programming, coupled with practical experience in guidance, navigation, and control. Someone who thrives in small, innovative teams focused on real-world deployed solutions will find a strong cultural and technical fit here.
What you will do
- Contribute hands-on to a small, collaborative team applying expertise in path planning and route optimization.
- Prototype and deploy state-of-the-art algorithms for global and local path planning, trajectory optimization, and multi-agent coordination.
- Develop online path planning capabilities that replan safely and efficiently as mission conditions, threats, and vehicle states change.
- Design and develop high-performance software for real-time command and control systems deployed on operational platforms in the field.
- Implement robust planners, search algorithms, and decision-making systems that generate safe and optimal routes in dynamic environments.
- Analyze system performance using high-fidelity simulations and statistical techniques to validate planner behavior across diverse scenarios.
- Integrate path planning technologies into the broader command and control software stack throughout the entire development lifecycle.
What you need
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in algorithm design, software development, and mathematical modeling.
- Programming expertise in C/C++ and/or Rust.
- Strong knowledge of path planning techniques such as graph-based search and sampling-based planners.
- Demonstrated experience in guidance, navigation, and control, trajectory optimization, and predictive modeling for vehicle dynamics.
- Solid understanding of applied mathematics including linear algebra, optimization, computational geometry, and graph theory.
- Familiarity with map representations, terrain reasoning, state estimation, and large-scale geospatial data handling.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Nice to have
- Experience with Rust for high-performance, safety-critical software
- Exposure to mixed greenfield/brownfield codebases including extending an existing planning/routing stack in production
Benefits
- Comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees
- Highly competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers
