About this role

Peec AI is seeking a full-time Senior Python Engineer based in Berlin to take ownership of complex backend systems. This role is ideal for an experienced backend developer with a passion for building scalable architectures and data-heavy applications at a fast-growing analytics platform.

Role Overview

The Senior Python Engineer will design and build robust, scalable APIs and distributed systems that power core products. Working from the Berlin headquarters, this position involves handling end-to-end backend responsibilities, from initial scoping and architecture to reliable production delivery, while collaborating closely with product, frontend, and design teams.

Key Responsibilities

Own complex backend systems from scoping and architecture to high-quality delivery.
Build robust and scalable APIs and distributed systems for exceptional performance.
Partner with Product, Frontend, and Design colleagues to turn product concepts into reality.
Drive innovation in backend technology, architecture, and developer tooling.
Evolve backend infrastructure to support fast iteration at scale.
Find and execute opportunities to boost system performance and reliability.

Requirements

At least 5 years of professional backend engineering background, preferably in high-growth startup settings.
Advanced expertise in Python and FastAPI with a strong history of scaling production systems.
Practical experience designing and implementing APIs like REST, GraphQL, or gRPC.
Comprehensive SQL database skills, including PostgreSQL query optimization and schema design.
Familiarity with cloud-native architectures on GCP such as Cloud Functions, Cloud Tasks, and Firestore.
Working knowledge of DevOps routines, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, Vertex AI, and machine learning infrastructure.
Excellent communication skills, high ownership, and the ability to operate autonomously.

Nice to Have

Personal experience building and scaling a complex or high-traffic system.
Previous background working on AI products or data-heavy applications.
An academic background in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
Prior experience starting a company or working within a top-tier high-growth startup.
