Senior Product Manager, Search Infrastructure
About this role
Professionals who thrive on navigating complex technical trade-offs and shaping infrastructure for autonomous systems will find a strong fit in this opportunity. Nebius is seeking a product leader for Tavily to own the web access layer powering AI agents used by millions of developers and Fortune 500 companies. This individual will determine how to balance crawl coverage, freshness, latency, and cost per query while defining what quality means for diverse use cases.
Working as a hands-on individual contributor reporting to the Director of Product, the person in this seat will collaborate closely with search engineering, research, evaluation, and customer success teams. Responsibilities include defining release criteria, mapping the future of the index, and anticipating how search infrastructure must evolve as AI agents replace traditional human consumers. Success in the role requires deep technical credibility, a data-driven mindset, and the ability to defend difficult product decisions to both engineers and enterprise customers.
What you will do
- Establish the quality bar and release criteria for search products by defining what good means for specific use cases.
- Collaborate with the evaluation team to determine appropriate metrics and measurement methodologies for search performance.
- Manage and defend depth, latency, and cost tradeoffs across the search infrastructure.
- Shape the roadmap and strategic direction for the index, including coverage and freshness requirements.
- Analyze competitive alternatives and drive initiatives to close critical capability gaps.
- Partner with customer success and engage directly with clients to translate real-world workflow shortcomings into actionable quality priorities.
- Coordinate with data and vertical product owners to refine corpus content and industry-specific result shaping.
What you need
- Bring at least five years of product management experience with a significant focus on high-scale search, feed ranking, or ad engines.
- Possess a professional background as an engineer, machine learning engineer, or researcher on production systems within relevant domains.
- Demonstrate direct experience shipping search or ranking changes end to end, including evaluation and post-launch analysis.
- Maintain a strong data foundation that enables experiment design, critical reading of evaluation results, and differentiation between signal and noise.
- Apply robust product judgment to determine strategic inclusions and exclusions while defending decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Show a strong understanding of large language models, AI agents, and the integration of retrieval within agentic workflows.
- Operate effectively in ambiguous environments by seamlessly shifting between high-level strategy and detailed execution.
Nice to have
- Depth in information retrieval, natural language processing, or applied machine learning beyond baseline requirements.
- Experience with index tiering, sharding, freshness pipelines, or cost-per-query optimization at scale.
- Experience with hybrid retrieval, semantic and lexical search, re-ranking, or human evaluation programs.
- Experience in API-first or developer-platform businesses managing both self-serve and enterprise motions.
- Experience in high-growth technology companies, startups within larger organizations, or post-acquisition environments.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation
- Career growth and learning opportunities
- Flexibility and ownership
- Collaborative and innovative culture
- Opportunity to work on impactful AI projects
- International environment and talented teams
