Role Overview

Solstice is redefining how life sciences organizations commercialize therapeutics by building a commercial engine for pharmaceutical marketers. The Senior Member of Technical Staff (Applied AI) will own the technical direction of AI systems, covering retrieval, generation, verification, evaluation, and production reliability. This position offers a direct path to leading Toronto engineering, participating in engineering leadership from week one, and helping hire the local team. The first month involves working in New York with travel and accommodation covered by the company. Work begins remotely with a WeWork stipend, transitioning to an exclusive Toronto office by the end of the year for a five-day on-site schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Design and manage AI systems handling retrieval, generation, verification, and evaluation in production.
Build high-craft visual and textual assets such as emails, banners, slides, and leave-behinds while preserving brand systems and compliance.
Connect generated assets to real-world performance metrics including engagement, healthcare professional response, and scripts written to improve future output.
Develop offline metrics that track downstream medical, legal, and regulatory review pass rates.
Maintain claim-level attribution by tracing sentences to approved sources through proprietary corpora.
Manage MLOps and behavioral regression through full CI/CD for machine learning, automated testing, versioning, and monitoring.

Requirements

Experience shipping, operating, and maintaining machine learning and large language model systems in production.
Demonstrated history of inventing metrics to measure and improve system performance.
Depth in large language models encompassing retrieval, agentic pipelines, targeted fine-tuning, and tool selection.
Full-stack proficiency in Python, FastAPI, Docker, and AWS to independently take ideas from research to deployed services.
Strong judgment under ambiguity with the ability to make decisions amid unknowns and adjust rapidly.
Direct and open communication skills for collaboration and feedback.
Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
