Role Overview

The Fraud Data team at Plaid builds machine learning models that protect customers from fraud while maintaining a smooth experience for legitimate users. Operating out of the New York City office, this senior research role focuses on uncovering new signals, evaluating innovative modeling approaches, and moving research into production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Research and prototype state-of-the-art methods in graph machine learning, sequential modeling, and multimodal learning for fraud detection.
Execute a research roadmap to transition innovative ideas into production solutions with clear customer impact.
Collaborate across Data, Product, and Engineering to publish and share applied research.
Utilize network-level financial data to generate insights that help consumers achieve financial freedom.

Requirements

PhD in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field strongly preferred, or equivalent research experience through publications, patents, or contributions.
2 to 4+ years of relevant industry or research lab experience with a track record of research leadership and product impact.
Demonstrated scientific rigor alongside strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Proficiency in Python with experience creating research prototypes for production systems.

Nice to Have

Background in fraud detection, security, risk, or abuse prevention.
Familiarity with large-scale training, graph systems, and sequential modeling.

Salary and Benefits
