About this role

The Senior IT Platform and Automation Engineer at Snorkel AI drives internal infrastructure development through advanced automation and software engineering practices. This hybrid role operates out of New York City, NY or San Francisco, CA, and suits technical professionals who prefer writing custom code over traditional helpdesk support.

Role Overview

Snorkel AI seeks a Senior IT Platform and Automation Engineer to treat internal infrastructure like a product rather than a reactive firefighting exercise. This position serves as the connective tissue between the office network, collaboration services, security stack, and core business systems including People Tech, CRM, and Engineering tools. Candidates will spend the majority of their time writing code, building custom API integrations, and designing zero-touch onboarding workflows rather than performing manual IT support tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Own the Identity Provider environment by implementing and automating single sign-on, multi-factor authentication enforcement, and SCIM provisioning across SaaS tools using Okta or Azure AD.
Manage the full hardware and MDM lifecycle by automating device provisioning, configuration, and secure deployment using Jamf and Intune.
Design, deploy, and maintain high-availability office networking and secure remote access solutions for a hybrid workforce.
Architect and build custom API integrations between core SaaS stacks to sync data and eliminate manual data entry.
Own the internal automation layer by replacing lightweight no-code tools with robust custom Python code for mission-critical paths.
Build and maintain internal dashboards and Slack apps that give employees self-service access to IT, HR, and facilities requests.
Review connectors or build lightweight API wrappers and prompt engineering pipelines to connect LLMs like Claude and OpenAI to internal tools.
Write robust scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate security monitoring, endpoint patch management, and compliance reporting.
Architect centralized alerting pipelines by integrating EDR and SIEM webhooks into Slack.
Create automated audit trails, access reviews, and reporting to support SOC2 and ISO compliance efforts.

Requirements

Bring 4 or more years of professional experience in IT Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Platform roles focusing heavily on automation and APIs.
Demonstrate advanced coding proficiency in Python or JavaScript and Node.js, treating scripts like software with git, CI/CD, testing, and documentation.
Exhibit proven experience building custom integrations using REST and GraphQL APIs, handling OAuth2, and parsing JSON.
Possess hands-on experience with Okta or Azure AD alongside at least one MDM solution like Jamf or Intune.
Maintain a security-first mindset with a strong understanding of least privilege, automated patching, and secure integrations.

Nice to Have

Direct experience with Okta, Rippling, Greenhouse, Notion, or Slack APIs.
Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs such as Anthropic Claude or OpenAI for internal tools.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
Experience preparing IT systems for SOC2 or ISO 27001 audits.
Experience with Google Workspace administration and GAM.
Experience with zero-touch deployment workflows including Apple Business Manager and Windows Autopilot.
