Role Overview

Prompt is a mission-driven startup building modern B2B enterprise software for rehab therapy businesses, patients, and care teams. The incoming engineer will lead artificial intelligence projects from the initial idea phase through architecture, production, and continuous iteration. This position focuses on heavy code contribution rather than people management, working closely with internal departments like engineering, design, sales, marketing, support, finance, and operations to build practical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead artificial intelligence initiatives from ideation to production adoption.
Build and deploy end-to-end systems spanning traditional machine learning and LLM workflows.
Partner with company stakeholders to map workflows and establish clear success metrics.
Design evaluation, monitoring, and observability metrics to track accuracy, cost, latency, and business impact.
Implement guardrails for language model pipelines, featuring validation and human-in-the-loop steps.
Rapidly develop proofs-of-concept and scale them into dependable production systems.
Support the mentorship and training of junior colleagues as the department expands.

Requirements

Minimum of 4 years of professional or academic experience building AI and machine learning systems with production ownership.
Expertise in constructing end-to-end artificial intelligence architectures beyond isolated models.
Practical background in LLM-based systems, including prompt optimization, evaluation, structured outputs, RAG, and multi-step workflows.
Proficiency in measuring system performance through offline metrics, online monitoring, cost tracking, and regression analysis.
Strong software engineering foundation with the capacity to write clean, production-grade code.
Proficiency in Python (version 3.9 or higher) and basic Docker usage.
Excellent communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical discussions.

Nice to Have

Background in developing internal automation platforms utilized across diverse business units.
Experience establishing evaluation harnesses, golden datasets, and human review loops for language models.
Knowledge of analytics dashboards that track utilization, outcomes, and return on investment.
Familiarity with business systems, workflow automation, CRMs, and support platforms.
Hands-on experience with FastAPI, Streamlit, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, and retrieval systems.
Exposure to healthcare software development and data processing pipelines.
