Senior Director, Reporting & Analytics Engineering
About this role
Leaders who enjoy transforming legacy reporting functions into proactive, intelligence-driven capabilities will thrive in this environment. This role exists at PlayStation Global to lead the Enterprise Reporting and Analytics Engineering organization, steering the team away from static dashboards toward automated insight delivery, generative AI integration, and advanced data products.
The incoming director will manage an organization of approximately thirty professionals, guiding data architects, report developers, and visualization specialists through a multi-year shift. Responsibilities span setting technical standards for semantic layers and data marts, partnering with data science to productize machine learning models, and building exception-based systems that alert stakeholders to statistical deviations without manual intervention.
Success in this position requires a deep technical foundation in dimensional modeling and governance combined with strong cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate has spent years building traditional reporting structures and is eager to apply that rigor to modern AI-enabled consumption models, vendor management, and engineering culture development within a major gaming and technology organization.
What you will do
- Lead, coach, and develop an analytics organization of approximately 30 people while managing through frontline managers.
- Define and execute a multi-year vision for enterprise reporting, semantic layers, and analytics engineering.
- Partner with data science to operationalize machine learning models and enable generative AI and LLM access to enterprise data.
- Establish rigorous engineering standards encompassing peer review, automated testing, source control, and CI/CD.
- Drive data governance, cataloging, lineage tracking, and metadata management using tools such as Atlan.
- Rationalize the existing reporting portfolio by consolidating overlapping assets and retiring redundant dashboards.
- Collaborate with product management and analytics operations to maintain a transparent intake, triage, and prioritization process.
What you need
- Extensive experience building traditional data foundations including governance, metadata, lineage, and dimensional modeling.
- Proven track record of leading and developing data teams, including performance management, career pathing, and succession planning.
- Strong technical expertise in modern analytics engineering practices, semantic layers, and curated data products.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with data science, data engineering, and product management on advanced analytic products.
- Experience managing query performance, warehouse consumption, and platform costs as first-class engineering concerns.
