About this role

Role Overview

The Senior Data Scientist – Supply Chain Operations Research position at Quince is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, operating within the Logistics Engineering department. This role focuses on developing and productionizing advanced operations research and optimization solutions that impact critical supply chain functions, including warehouse routing, transportation, inventory planning, and network optimization. It is an ideal opportunity for a quantitative professional who combines strong operations research fundamentals with engineering fluency to solve real-world retail supply chain challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Own end-to-end modeling workstreams spanning dynamic warehouse routing, shipping cost optimization, multimodal transportation, inventory placement, network flow, and purchase order allocation.
Translate complex operational hurdles into well-defined optimization problems with distinct objectives, constraints, and success criteria.
Apply operations research techniques such as Linear Programming, Mixed-Integer Programming, Constraint Programming, heuristics, vehicle routing, and network flow.
Configure, select, and tune optimization solvers while designing rigorous experiments using historical and operational data to evaluate model quality and business impact.
Integrate AI-native workflows, including LLM-assisted model formulation, agentic problem decomposition, and AI-augmented experiment design.
Build, deploy, and maintain optimization models in production, overseeing feature pipelines, solver integration, model-serving components, and continuous performance monitoring.
Collaborate closely with the Palo Alto Planning Science team, supply chain stakeholders, and logistics partners across geographies through clear written documentation and asynchronous communication.

Requirements

Possess 5 to 8 years of professional experience in Operations Research, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related quantitative field.
Demonstrated hands-on experience building and deploying production models that have successfully delivered measurable business impact.
Strong expertise in optimization methodologies including linear programming, mixed-integer programming, constraint programming, heuristics, vehicle routing, and network flow.
Practical experience solving supply chain operations research problems such as warehouse routing, transportation optimization, inventory placement, network optimization, or procurement.
Solid engineering fluency across feature pipelines, solver integration, experimentation infrastructure, and model-serving components.
Demonstrated experience applying AI and LLM tools to scientific workflows such as model formulation, problem decomposition, or experiment design.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Nice to Have

Advanced degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
Experience working within e-commerce, retail, logistics, supply chain, transportation, or warehouse optimization sectors.
Familiarity with optimization solvers such as Gurobi, CPLEX, OR-Tools, or similar tools.
Experience solving large-scale vehicle routing, network optimization, or other combinatorial optimization problems.
Background in building production-grade optimization or decision-support platforms and utilizing cloud-based data science and model deployment platforms.
Experience working alongside distributed data science or operations research teams.
