Managing, mentoring, and developing a mission-driven team of data scientists embedded across core areas like identity, signals, and developer tools constitutes the daily focus of this role. Discord seeks a senior data science manager to oversee the developer platform, shaping company strategy for a two-sided value equation that serves both game developers and players.
This practitioner will own the vision and roadmap for data-driven decision-making, collaborating closely with product, engineering, and business development to measure integration health and forecast growth. Ideal candidates bring strong expertise in experimentation and causal inference, along with a track record of supporting both consumer product and B2B or platform contexts.
What you will do
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of data scientists embedded across developer platform areas including identity, signals, and developer tools.
- Own the vision and roadmap for data-driven decision-making across the developer platform organization.
- Shape developer-facing data products by defining metrics, benchmarking methodologies, and insight quality.
- Partner with ads, engagement, and growth teams to identify, validate, and productize platform-derived signals using experimentation.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and business development to measure integration health and forecast growth.
- Serve as a trusted analytical partner to top game developers by designing joint studies to uncover business value.
- Partner with data engineering, product, and legal teams to ensure data governance and proper documentation of platform signals.
- Shape the direction and culture of the broader data organization alongside other data leaders.
What you need
- Possess 8 or more years of experience in applied data science and advanced analytics, spanning consumer product and B2B or platform contexts.
- Demonstrate 3 or more years of experience managing and developing teams of data scientists while growing individual contributors.
- Bring strong expertise in experimentation and causal inference, including quasi-experimental methods like propensity matching, synthetic controls, and diff-in-diff.
- Show experience designing novel, interpretable metrics for fast-evolving product areas and building measurement systems around them.
- Demonstrate proficiency in SQL and at least one data programming language such as Python or R.
- Exhibit clear communication skills to translate complex technical work into crisp narratives for executives, engineers, and external partners.

- Experience building or shaping customer-facing data products like analytics dashboards or benchmarking tools

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $342,000 to $380,000, plus equity and benefits. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
