Senior Compliance Program Manager, Political Law
About this role
Navigating complex political law and corporate compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions becomes increasingly difficult as an organization grows. The Integrity & Compliance function at Anthropic addresses this challenge by building operational infrastructure that allows the company to scale responsibly as its AI systems reach more people, enterprises, and governments.
This Senior Compliance Program Manager will own the political law compliance program end-to-end, managing the corporate PAC, political giving, pay-to-play preclearance, and government gift rules. Working alongside Policy, Legal, and Finance teams, this person will design workflows, direct outside counsel, and help build AI-assisted tools that enable a lean team to cover a large operational footprint.
An ideal candidate brings hands-on experience designing political law compliance programs from scratch, combines fluency in federal and state regulatory frameworks with strong project management skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment without large-team infrastructure.
What you will do
- Manage the political contributions preclearance program by handling intake, maintaining the covered-persons register, and conducting pay-to-play screening against public-sector business.
- Support corporate PAC compliance operations in partnership with Policy, Finance, and outside counsel through eligibility controls, solicitation reviews, and FEC reporting oversight.
- Maintain the corporate political giving log and vetting workflow for various candidate and committee contributions while integrating pay-to-play triggers into contract intake.
- Supervise lobbying compliance by keeping a consolidated view of registrations, deadlines, and filing statuses alongside outside firms.
- Oversee outside political law counsel and compliance vendors by managing scoping, quality, timeliness, and budget.
- Run gifts and hospitality reviews for public official interactions by applying federal, state, and local ethics rules.
- Review and disposition conflicts of interest, outside business activities, and gifts across the broader corporate compliance queue.
- Serve as product owner for AI-assisted intake, screening, and case-management workflows by defining requirements and running testing.
What you need
- Demonstrated hands-on ownership of political law compliance programs including corporate PAC, campaign finance, pay-to-play preclearance, and lobbying registration.
- Track record of building a program from scratch or through a major redesign rather than just operating an existing one.
- Experience doing the work directly while effectively managing outside counsel and compliance vendors.
- Working fluency in the federal framework including FECA, FEC, LDA, HLOGA, and House and Senate gift rules, alongside state and local variations.
- Strong project management and cross-functional execution abilities with Policy, Government Affairs, Legal, Finance, and executive stakeholders.
- Sound judgment and discretion when handling politically and personally sensitive information.
Nice to have
- 7+ years of experience in compliance program management
- Experience in a corporate government affairs compliance function, a political law practice, or a financial-services pay-to-play program
- Exposure to non-US lobbying transparency regimes such as the EU Transparency Register or UK rules
- Hands-on experience with compliance tooling and an interest in using AI for compliance work
- Relevant certification or paralegal/JD background
