About this role
The Air & Missile Defense Radar team at Anduril Industries builds tracking algorithms and software systems that detect, track, and characterize airborne threats in real-time. This senior C++ engineer will design tracking algorithms for novel air and missile threats while developing real-time software systems that process radar sensor data for numerous simultaneous targets. The role exists to support the deployment of production-grade systems relied upon by government and industry customers for mission-critical operations. Engineers on this team work in small groups to build high-performance distributed systems capable of processing massive amounts of sensor data in milliseconds. Daily responsibilities involve collaborating with radar engineers, optimizing software for performance-critical environments, and utilizing modeling and simulation environments to validate tracking performance. Successful candidates combine strong programming skills with solid mathematical foundations in linear algebra, probability, statistics, or differential equations.
What you will do
- Design and implement advanced tracking algorithms for novel air and missile threats, including multi-target tracking, track fusion, and discrimination techniques.
- Develop high-performance, real-time software systems that process radar sensor data and maintain tracks on dozens to hundreds of simultaneous targets.
- Build and leverage modeling and simulation environments to validate tracking performance, quantify system capabilities, and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate directly with radar engineers and system architects to integrate tracking solutions into end-to-end defense systems.
- Optimize tracking software for performance-critical environments where milliseconds matter.
- Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to cross-functional teams, program leadership, and customers to drive informed decisions.
- Participate in customer demonstrations and field tests to ensure successful deployment and operational effectiveness.
What you need
- Candidates must have eight years of relevant experience along with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python are required for the role.
- Applicants must possess a solid foundation in mathematics including linear algebra, probability, statistics, and/or differential equations.
- A thorough understanding of software engineering fundamentals such as design patterns, testing, version control, and debugging is necessary.
- Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.
Nice to have
- Experience with tracking, estimation, or filtering algorithms such as Kalman filters, particle filters, or multiple hypothesis tracking
- Background in controls, estimation theory, or digital signal processing
- Familiarity with radar systems or sensor fusion
- Experience with high-performance computing including multithreading, GPU acceleration, and distributed systems
- Active U.S. Top Secret SCI clearance
