Peec AI is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their engineering team in Berlin on a full-time basis. This role suits an experienced developer who wants to own and scale the data infrastructure powering the analytics platform for AI search.

Role Overview

Peec AI is building the data plane for AI visibility, processing millions of chats, scrapes, citations, and model responses. As a Senior Backend Engineer, the focus is on creating reliable, fast, and cost-effective systems that handle complex data pipelines. Responsibilities include designing queuing models, shipping TypeScript services, debugging provider outages, and ensuring that core scraping and ingestion workflows operate smoothly under real production constraints.

Key Responsibilities

Build, scale, and optimize scraping, chat-processing, source-ingestion, and analytics infrastructure.
Design and implement better queuing models, retry mechanisms, rate-limit handlers, and distributed locks.
Debug issues across multiple layers including application code, logs, metrics, queues, provider APIs, and databases.
Write clear postmortems and follow-up documentation to support engineering growth and system reliability.
Balance product-minded judgment with infrastructure changes to protect customer experience, security, and cost ceilings.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of professional backend, platform, infrastructure, or distributed systems engineering experience in a production environment.
Deep hands-on experience with TypeScript, particularly designing clean and reliable backend systems.
Strong conceptual and practical understanding of queues, workers, retries, rate limits, idempotency, webhooks, and failure handling.
Proven ability to operate systems under real production pressure, such as handling provider outages, customer escalations, and slow dependencies.
Comfort working with cloud-native infrastructure and debugging across complex software and network layers.
High ownership, low ego, and a strong bias toward durable, long-term technical fixes rather than temporary workarounds.
