Senior Algorithm Engineer, Tracking Systems
About this role
Designing advanced tracking algorithms for airborne threats, building high-performance real-time software systems, and leveraging modeling and simulation environments occupy the daily schedule for this team member. Anduril Industries operates through small and focused software engineering groups that develop tracking solutions to detect, track, and characterize threats in real time using the Lattice OS platform. Candidates who succeed here bring strong mathematical foundations and programming capabilities to mission-critical defense operations, working directly with radar engineers and system architects to deploy production-grade software.
What you will do
- Design and implement advanced tracking algorithms for novel air and missile threats, including multi-target tracking, track fusion, and discrimination techniques.
- Develop high-performance, real-time software systems that process radar sensor data and maintain tracks on dozens to hundreds of simultaneous targets.
- Build and leverage modeling and simulation environments to validate tracking performance, quantify system capabilities, and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate directly with radar engineers and system architects to integrate tracking solutions into end-to-end defense systems.
- Optimize tracking software for performance-critical environments where milliseconds matter.
- Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to cross-functional teams, program leadership, and customers to drive informed decisions.
- Participate in customer demonstrations and field tests to ensure successful deployment and operational effectiveness.
What you need
- Bring 8 years of relevant experience along with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, or possess equivalent experience.
- Demonstrate strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
- Possess a solid foundation in mathematics covering linear algebra, probability, statistics, and/or differential equations.
- Show a clear understanding of software engineering fundamentals such as design patterns, testing, version control, and debugging.
- Maintain the ability to obtain and manage a U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.
Nice to have
- Experience with tracking, estimation, or filtering algorithms like Kalman filters, particle filters, or multiple hypothesis tracking
- Background in controls, estimation theory, or digital signal processing
- Familiarity with radar systems, sensor fusion, or high-performance computing
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques for classification, clustering, or data association
- Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or custom frameworks

The estimated salary range for this position is $190,000 to $252,000 USD based on a wide range of compensation factors. Highly competitive equity grants are also included in the majority of full-time offers as part of the total compensation package.
