About this role
The Air Dominance and Strike team at Anduril Industries develops aerial and multi-domain robotic systems, including autonomous unmanned fighter jets and cruise missiles powered by Lattice OS. This operating system integrates thousands of data streams into a real-time command and control center, enabling hardware to collaborate across various missions.
This role involves building, scaling, and optimizing the end-to-end machine learning platform that powers these autonomous systems. Engineers in this position own critical components of the machine learning platform and MLOps tooling, creating infrastructure to train, evaluate, host, and serve complex AI models across cloud environments and air-gapped edge networks.

What you will do
- Build, optimize, and maintain scalable training, orchestration, and experimentation infrastructure to accelerate state-of-the-art model development.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks in the machine learning lifecycle by developing tooling for experiment tracking, automated profiling, and hyperparameter tuning.
- Implement and scale robust data pipelines to process multi-modal data captured from physical assets and test sites.
- Deploy high-throughput, low-latency model serving frameworks optimized for both cloud environments and resource-constrained tactical edge hardware.
- Develop robust CI/CD pipelines for machine learning models, including automated regression testing, validation benchmarks, and safe rollout strategies.
- Implement pipelines for model evaluation, validation, and reinforcement learning alignment loops to ensure predictability and safety in mission-critical deployments.
- Partner with AI researchers and computer vision engineers to translate modeling requirements into scalable, reusable infrastructure.
- Mentor peers, conduct thorough design and code reviews, and champion engineering best practices across the team.
What you need
- Bring 5 or more years of software engineering experience with demonstrated success in building and operating production-scale machine learning infrastructure or distributed systems.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Python, Go, or C++, backed by a strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals, systems design, and concurrent programming.
- Possess hands-on experience with container orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, alongside distributed training frameworks such as PyTorch Distributed, Ray, Slurm, or Megatron-LM.
- Show experience building and maintaining distributed data pipelines that handle large-scale unstructured or multi-modal datasets.
- Maintain a track record of owning projects end-to-end from technical design to production deployment and operational monitoring.
- Hold eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Nice to have
- Experience deploying machine learning infrastructure, model serving, or artifacts in secure, air-gapped, or regulated environments.
- Hands-on experience profiling GPU or accelerator workloads, resolving hardware and network bottlenecks, and optimizing compute utilization.
- Experience supporting workloads for Large Language Models, Generative AI, or Reinforcement Learning pipelines.
- Experience with multi-tenant cluster management, including fair scheduling, GPU slicing, and quota enforcement.
- Familiarity with production machine learning observability frameworks, including data drift detection and automated evaluation pipelines.

The salary range for this role is estimated between $191,000 and $253,000 USD based on base salary only. Actual salary offers may vary based on work experience, education, critical skills, and business considerations.
