Role Overview
Socure is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join its new Internal AI Engineering team on a hybrid schedule in New York, NY. This full-time position suits an experienced technologist eager to design and ship advanced agentic systems that transform internal business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with various business units like marketing, finance operations, revenue operations, and talent acquisition to identify and prioritize manual workflows.
Design and develop multi-step, tool-augmented production agents that plan, execute, observe, and refine their outputs.
Implement planner-executor and reflection-based architectures to boost reasoning quality and reliability.
Build stateful agent systems featuring human-in-the-loop controls such as approval gates, fallbacks, and escalation paths.
Utilize platform capabilities covering agent runtimes, orchestration, memory, tool registries, guardrails, and observability.
Discover and contribute reusable agent design patterns to the foundational paved paths.
Conduct continuous performance assessments, failure-mode analysis, and optimization using tracing substrates and evaluation harnesses.
Requirements
Eight or more years of software engineering experience, including a minimum of two years dedicated to artificial intelligence, machine learning systems, or production applications powered by large language models.
Extensive hands-on background utilizing LLM APIs alongside at least one agentic framework.
Advanced proficiency in Python for constructing production-grade backend services, application programming interfaces, and data pipelines.
Demonstrated capability to navigate ambiguous problem spaces, determine product direction, build solutions, and measure outcomes.
Past success delivering automation and artificial intelligence solutions that meaningfully influence enterprise operations.
Systems thinking capabilities focused on maintainability, reliability, and observability from the start.
Skill in working directly alongside non-technical stakeholders to translate real-world workflows into technical architectures.
Nice to Have
Production background working with multi-agent systems, complex tool-use patterns, or workflow orchestration.
Familiarity applying evaluation frameworks for tracking agent accuracy, reliability benchmarking, and failure modes.
Experience establishing retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, vector databases, knowledge graphs, or grounding mechanisms.
Background deploying real-time or streaming artificial intelligence platforms.
Knowledge of security and safety practices addressing hallucinations, data privacy, and prompt injections.
Professional history within regulated sectors like government, fintech, or healthcare.
Familiarity utilizing Model Context Protocol, function calling, or structured tool integrations.
Hands-on usage of cloud-hosted artificial intelligence infrastructure on Amazon Web Services.
