Role Overview

The Security Engineering team creates the bedrock that allows Sierra to deliver powerful artificial intelligence agents while safeguarding user trust and data privacy. Professionals in this position collaborate across product and platform groups to embed security, safety, and privacy directly into default architectures. Team members address diverse challenges across multiple security domains based on their individual strengths and professional interests.

Key Responsibilities

Design and deploy systems and controls that ensure Sierra remains secure by default across infrastructure, product security, enterprise security, identity, and detection and response.
Partner alongside product, infrastructure, and platform colleagues to perform threat modeling, review application code and architectures, and evolve security primitives.
Identify vulnerabilities, investigate anomalous behavior, and upgrade detection and response workflows across cloud infrastructure, endpoints, and internal systems.
Create developer-friendly tooling, including CI/CD security check automation and secure paved paths, to scale security workflows efficiently.
Balance usability, reliability, performance, and security pragmatically during design decisions.

Requirements

Strong security fundamentals paired with deep expertise in at least one specific domain, such as platform security, cloud security, product security, enterprise security, identity, offensive security, or detection and response.
Product and platform mindset focused on building scalable systems that support innovation rather than block progress.
Software engineering capabilities and systems thinking, with proficiency in reading and writing code, understanding production environments, and building pragmatic software solutions.
Curiosity and a strong sense of ownership to guide ambiguous, cross-cutting problems from initial principles through production deployment.

Nice to Have

Experience working across multiple security domains like product security, infrastructure security, detection and response, enterprise security, or offensive security.
Background in building security frameworks or platforms utilized by engineers and responders to remediate risks at scale.
Exposure to artificial intelligence systems or a passion for designing secure-by-default LLM applications and agentic architectures.
An attacker mindset that anticipates potential failures during design reviews or system investigations, alongside a track record of discovering or fixing production security issues.
Experience thriving in early-stage, zero-to-one environments that require balancing speed, trust, and reliability.
