About this role

Writing advanced tracking algorithms and building high-performance distributed systems constitute the core daily work for engineers on the Air & Missile Defense Radar team. The group develops sophisticated tracking solutions that process massive amounts of radar sensor data in milliseconds to detect, track, and characterize airborne threats in real time. Engineers design multi-target tracking algorithms, build modeling and simulation environments, and optimize software for performance-critical environments where milliseconds matter.

Anduril Industries maintains a mission to transform military capabilities with advanced technology, powering its family of systems with Lattice OS. The scientific software engineer role exists to deploy production-grade defense systems that government and industry customers depend on for mission-critical operations. Candidates who thrive in this environment possess a solid foundation in mathematics and programming, and feel motivated applying signal processing and software engineering to solve complex real-world problems.

What you will do

  • Design and implement advanced tracking algorithms for novel air and missile threats, including multi-target tracking, track fusion, and discrimination techniques.
  • Develop high-performance, real-time software systems that process radar sensor data and maintain tracks on numerous simultaneous targets.
  • Build and leverage modeling and simulation environments to validate tracking performance, quantify system capabilities, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate directly with radar engineers and system architects to integrate tracking solutions into end-to-end defense systems.
  • Optimize tracking software for performance-critical environments where milliseconds matter.
  • Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to cross-functional teams, program leadership, and customers to drive informed decisions.
  • Participate in customer demonstrations and field tests to ensure successful deployment and operational effectiveness.

What you need

  • Possess at least 2 years of relevant experience alongside a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
  • Bring a solid foundation in mathematics including linear algebra, probability, statistics, and differential equations.
  • Understand software engineering fundamentals such as design patterns, testing, version control, and debugging.
  • Hold the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with tracking, estimation, or filtering algorithms like Kalman filters, particle filters, or multiple hypothesis tracking
  • Background in controls, estimation theory, or digital signal processing
  • Familiarity with radar systems, sensor fusion, or high-performance computing
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques for classification, clustering, or data association
  • Proficiency with database technologies, web development tools, and modeling frameworks such as MATLAB or Simulink

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees ensuring support in health, recovery, and whatever comes next
  • Comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees
