Robotics Software Engineer
About this role
Delivering reliable path planning and route optimization in dynamic, contested environments requires advanced algorithms capable of operating within resource-constrained command and control systems. Anduril Industries addresses this challenge through its Battlespace Awareness Command and Control Software team, which builds intelligence for the Lattice OS platform.
Joining this group involves developing real-time software that orchestrates fleets of unmanned systems, designs trajectory optimization frameworks, and executes multi-agent coordination. Engineers collaborate in small units to translate theoretical models into deployed field applications, building robust search algorithms and decision-making architecture.
Candidates who excel here combine strong mathematical foundations in graph theory and kinematics with practical programming skills in C, C++, or Rust. Those with a background in guidance, navigation, and control who want their code to impact real-world operations will find a suitable environment.
What you will do
- Contribute hands-on code within a small, collaborative team focusing on path planning and route optimization for command and control systems.
- Prototype and deploy algorithms for global and local path planning, trajectory optimization, and multi-agent coordination.
- Develop online path planning capabilities that replan safely as mission conditions, threats, and vehicle states change.
- Design high-performance software for real-time systems with a strong emphasis on asynchronous programming, concurrency, and resource constraints.
- Analyze system performance using high-fidelity simulations and statistical techniques to validate planner behavior across diverse scenarios.
- Support customer success by implementing algorithms for collaborative autonomy, asset routing, and threat avoidance.
What you need
- Have at least three years of experience in algorithm design, software development, and mathematical modeling.
- Demonstrate programming expertise in C, C++, and/or Rust.
- Possess strong knowledge of path planning techniques such as graph-based search and sampling-based planners.
- Show documented experience in guidance, navigation, and control or trajectory prediction.
- Understand applied mathematics including linear algebra, optimization, computational geometry, and graph theory.
- Be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Nice to have
- Experience with Rust for high-performance, safety-critical software
- Exposure to mixed greenfield and brownfield codebases including extending an existing planning stack in production
Benefits
- Highly competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers
- Comprehensive, competitive benefits package supporting health, recovery, and future needs
Skills and tech stack
