Robotics Engineer, Manufacturing Automation
About this role
Anduril Industries is building advanced manufacturing systems through its Manufacturing Automation team to support defense technology production. The engineering group focuses on the design, integration, and deployment of automated hardware across company factories at a national scale. Candidates will select industrial robots, develop safety configurations, and manage cell layouts from initial concept to full production deployment.
Daily responsibilities involve programming and commissioning robotic applications, optimizing motion planning, and collaborating with cross-functional teams like mechanical designers and controls engineers. Professionals who succeed in this position combine strong practical knowledge of robot kinematics with hands-on automation experience in a production environment. The role exists to scale manufacturing capabilities and requires careful attention to safety standards and system integration.
What you will do
- Select, design, and integrate industrial robots and cobots for automated manufacturing from concept to production deployment.
- Develop, optimize, and debug robot programs focusing on motion planning, safety configurations, and vision-based guidance.
- Specify, select, and integrate end-of-arm tooling including grippers, sensors, and custom hardware.
- Design and manage robot cell layouts incorporating safety enclosures, work envelopes, and infrastructure.
- Implement and verify safety functions like STO and SLS in accordance with established industrial standards.
- Run simulation models to validate robot reach, cycle time, and potential collisions before physical setup.
- Enforce internal standards for robotic system design, programming, safety, and integration.
- Collaborate with controls engineers, mechanical designers, and production staff to ensure seamless system integration.
What you need
- Hold a bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Bring at least 4 years of hands-on experience in robotics and automation within a manufacturing production environment.
- Demonstrate strong capability in programming and commissioning robots and cobots from FANUC and UR.
- Show proficiency in utilizing robot simulation software such as FANUC ROBOGUIDE, UR Virtual Controller, or Visual Components.
- Possess a strong theoretical and practical understanding of robot kinematics, dynamics, motion control, and advanced path planning techniques.
- Display in-depth knowledge of industrial safety standards like ISO 10218 and RIA R15.06 alongside safety functions.
- Have proven experience in end-of-arm tooling selection, design, integration, and troubleshooting.
- Qualify as a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
