About this role

An experienced, innovative, and ambitious scientist who wants to help transform the pharmaceutical industry using artificial intelligence will thrive in this role. Isomorphic Labs operates an interdisciplinary team combining drug discovery experts and machine learning specialists to build predictive and generative AI models that accelerate scientific discovery. The Preclinical Development team integrates safety, druggability, and developability into the core of the drug design engine by shaping state-of-the-art toxicology predictive models.

As the Toxicology Lead, the successful candidate will develop safety assessment strategies for drug discovery and development projects from inception through to regulatory submission. Responsibilities include partnering with machine learning colleagues to build predictive toxicology platforms, designing screening cascades, and overseeing external wet-lab work through a network of contract research organizations. The role exists to optimize company assets using an AI-first approach while helping reduce animal testing in drug discovery and mentoring junior team members.

What you will do

  • Design and implement safety assessment strategies with an AI-first approach to support small molecules and biologics drug discovery projects.
  • Define regulatory safety assessment packages and author toxicology sections of regulatory documents to support successful acceptance by regulatory agencies.
  • Partner with Machine Learning colleagues to build predictive toxicology platforms and identify, generate, and analyze data to improve predictive models.
  • Maintain and develop close relationships with external CRO vendors to ensure high-quality, timely data generation and oversee data campaigns for AI models.
  • Mentor junior members of the team while embracing and championing a culture of inclusion and professional development.

What you need

  • Hold a Ph.D. in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Biology, or a DVM/MD with relevant experience, alongside Board Certification.
  • Possess extensive professional experience working in a senior toxicology role across different therapy areas within the biotech or pharma setting.
  • Demonstrate direct experience filing successful INDs and CTAs for both small molecules and biologics.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Global Regulatory Guidelines regarding safety assessment.
  • Demonstrate a track record of creative problem solving with a strong growth mindset, adaptability, and excellent cross-functional communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with peptides and other new modalities
  • Good understanding of machine learning techniques
  • Familiarity with Python and KNIME
