Role Overview

Anthropic is hiring a Research Engineer to join the Computer Use team, which focuses on teaching Claude to see, use, and understand software interfaces. Team members work collaboratively in a hybrid setting, spending at least 25% of their time in office locations.

Key Responsibilities

Design and execute experiments to boost Claude's perception and agentic capabilities.
Create robust evaluation frameworks to measure model performance on complex computer tasks.
Build and enhance reinforcement learning training environments and simulation systems for computer use and vision.
Develop pipelines and tools for testing and validating complex training setups.
Collaborate across training and infrastructure teams to optimize production setups.
Partner directly with product teams to integrate research breakthroughs into production.

Requirements

Software engineering experience with proficiency in Python.
Background in training, fine-tuning, or evaluating machine learning models.
Strong communication skills paired with a collaborative working style.
Demonstrated care for the societal impacts and safety of technological work.
Minimum education requirement of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience.
