The Penetration Tester position at WPP is a hands-on security engineering role based in the United Kingdom within the Data & Technology Solutions department. Key Responsibilities

Provide hands-on security support across multiple engineering teams by reviewing product designs, system architectures, and application workflows.
Embed secure engineering standards throughout the software development lifecycle, utilizing automated scanning tools and secure coding practices.
Facilitate threat modeling sessions and security design reviews for new or modified technical capabilities.
Perform hands-on offensive security testing, coordinate external penetration assessments, and execute adversarial checks.
Deliver dedicated security assurance for external APIs, data collaborations, and complex partner integrations.
Conduct targeted security reviews and adversarial testing for artificial intelligence enabled workflows and agentic capabilities.
Prioritize vulnerability findings based on real-world business impact and help engineering teams resolve issues effectively.
Act as a collaborative security partner by providing practical implementation guidance and coaching to developers.

Requirements

Strong hands-on background in penetration testing, product security, application security, or security engineering.
Solid understanding of distributed systems, SaaS platforms, modern software engineering, APIs, and cloud-native environments.
Practical knowledge of threat modeling frameworks and secure design review processes.
Familiarity with common application and API security risks such as injection, authentication flaws, data leakage, and privilege escalation.
Experience utilizing security testing tooling across web apps, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud services.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional leadership, product teams, and software engineers.
A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset toward risk reduction.

Nice to Have

Understanding of artificial intelligence and agentic security risks.

Skills and Tools

Application security principles and penetration testing methodologies.
Threat modeling and security design reviews.
SAST, DAST, SCA, dependency scanning, secrets scanning, and container scanning tools.
Vulnerability triage and remediation tracking workflows.
API and cloud security assessment techniques.
