Role Overview
Anthropic is seeking an NPI Sourcing Manager for Data Center Power & Cooling to lead the new product introduction program for critical infrastructure supporting next-generation AI compute campuses. This remote-friendly position in the United States suits an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in power electronics, electrical equipment, or industrial energy systems who wants to bridge design teams with supplier factories.
Key Responsibilities
Own the NPI program for each new power or cooling product from concept selection through ramp, managing gate schedules, exit criteria, and risk registers.
Drive early supplier design engagement by translating site requirements into product specifications and negotiating trade-offs with supplier engineering teams.
Lead DFM, DFT, and DFx reviews with suppliers to guarantee designs are manufacturable at scale, testable in factories, and serviceable in the field.
Plan and execute prototype and pilot builds, define EVT, DVT, and PVT scope, witness builds, and direct root cause analysis on failures.
Qualify products for deployment by defining first-article inspection, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing.
Hand off qualified products, control plans, and test procedures to manufacturing quality and supply chain delivery teams.
Build the reliability picture by running FMEA and DFMEA with suppliers, establishing reliability targets, and utilizing field failure data.
Coordinate cross-functionally with design engineering, construction, commissioning, utilities, safety, and sourcing.
Requirements
Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience in power electronics, electrical equipment, or industrial energy systems.
At least 4 years in an NPI, product development, or product engineering role owning a product from prototype through production ramp.
Direct, hands-on experience with at least two technologies such as BESS, utility- or data-center-scale inverters, medium-voltage transformers or switchgear, UPS, STATCOM equipment, or liquid cooling systems.
Working knowledge of relevant standards including UL 9540/9540A, UL 1741, IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, IEC standards, IEEE C37/C57 series, NFPA 70/855, and UL 1778.
Experience defining and executing structured qualification programs and disciplined root cause analysis and CAPA.
Familiarity with supplier factory environments, production lines, test bays, and quality systems.
Fluency in design-for-manufacturing principles and supplier ECO and change-control processes.
Strong systems thinking abilities and clear written and verbal communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or power engineering, or equivalent experience.
Willingness to travel 30 to 40 percent of the time to supplier factories and data center sites.
Nice to Have
Experience with solid-state transformers, grid-forming inverters, E-STATCOM, or other emerging power-conversion equipment.
NPI or product engineering experience at a hyperscaler, large utility-scale developer, or Tier-1 power equipment OEM.
Background in grid interconnection studies, protection coordination, or power-system modeling like PSCAD, ETAP, or PSS/E.
Liquid cooling product introduction experience including CDU, rear-door heat exchanger, direct-to-chip, or immersion systems.
Reliability engineering credentials such as CRE or Six Sigma, or experience running HALT/HASS programs.
Firmware and controls validation experience for power conversion equipment.
Experience scaling new supplier manufacturing lines, including contract manufacturing and international sites.
