Role Overview

Anthropic is building the Applied AI team to help ambitious organizations integrate Claude into their operations. The Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering acts as a founding leader for this practice in London. This position involves building and mentoring a high-performing team of engineers who embed directly with strategic customers to deliver production-ready artificial intelligence solutions. As a player-coach, the manager balances leadership responsibilities with hands-on technical involvement, such as reviewing code and debugging complex issues.

Key Responsibilities

Hire, develop, and retain a world-class team of Forward Deployed Engineers.
Manage resource allocation across customer portfolios by balancing business priorities and team growth.
Partner with account teams and Engagement Managers during pre-sales scoping and discovery.
Review technical architectures and code to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
Author repeatable playbooks, starter repositories, and integration templates based on field learnings.
Define team OKRs aligned with customer success and product adoption goals.
Translate field insights into actionable feedback for Product and Engineering.
Travel to customer sites up to 25 to 50 percent of the time for kickoffs and key accounts.

Requirements

Ten or more years of experience in software engineering, solutions architecture, or technical customer-facing roles.
Two or more years of people management experience within a services, post-sales, or forward deployed engineering organization.
Demonstrated track record of building organizations from zero to one.
Experience working directly with enterprise clients on complex technical implementations.
Executive presence with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
Ability to work from the London office in accordance with the location-based hybrid policy.

Annual base salary and OTE range of £255,000 to £325,000 GBP.
