Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements with a primary focus on sales contracts for enterprise technology customers and startups.
Collaborate closely with Go-to-Market and Sales leadership to support deal momentum and offer actionable legal advice.
Build and maintain internal commercial legal infrastructure, including process improvements, contract templates, and playbooks.
Manage a team of legal professionals supporting startup and enterprise segments.
Identify and appropriately escalate potential legal risks while maintaining business momentum.
Stay informed on ongoing legal developments impacting artificial intelligence technologies.

Requirements

Hold a law degree such as a JD, LLB, or equivalent, and meet local licensing requirements to practice as in-house counsel.
Bring professional experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, technology transactions, or SaaS agreements.
Demonstrate prior people management experience, which includes hiring, leading, and developing legal professionals.
Possess clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyer stakeholders.

Nice to Have

Eight or more years of overall legal experience with significant time dedicated to commercial contracts, technology transactions, or SaaS agreements.
Active membership in the California state bar.
Experience leading legal teams through high-growth phases within technology companies.
Experience navigating multi-stakeholder agreements that involve technical and policy considerations.
Curiosity regarding AI technology and policy alongside a commitment to responsible artificial intelligence development.
