Role Overview

Anthropic is hiring a Manager for Applied AI Engineering within the Megas segment. This position involves leading a technical team embedded with top-tier partner-customers who utilize and distribute Claude. The selected candidate will direct technical discovery, architecture design, and production deployment while collaborating with cross-functional departments including sales, product, and research.

Key Responsibilities

Build, mentor, and scale a technical team of engineers serving major accounts by establishing structured onboarding and performance goals.
Assign engineers to account pods alongside architects, balancing deep continuity with flexible resource allocation.
Provide senior technical advice to partner product and engineering leaders on architecture, evaluation strategy, and advanced LLM implementation.
Direct hands-on co-build initiatives with customer engineering teams, taking projects from prototypes to production.
Manage partner-customer dynamics involving direct consumption and platform distribution of Claude.
Serve as the primary technical escalation point and partner with sales to prioritize engineering efforts.
Develop shared assets such as reference architectures and evaluation frameworks across pods.
Partner with product and research teams to channel customer requirements back into internal roadmaps.
Advocate for safe, reliable AI practices and contribute thought leadership through public talks and documentation.

Requirements

Six or more years of professional background in technical roles such as software engineering, forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or technical product management.
Four or more years operating in a formal leadership capacity, including experience as a manager of multiple teams or as a technical founder.
Demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and scale customer-facing technical teams in fast-paced environments.
Experience supporting large strategic accounts at platform, infrastructure, or model organizations.
Production expertise with large language models, covering prompt engineering, agent frameworks, and evaluation tools.
Strong programming abilities using Python or TypeScript to build production applications.
Track record of engaging executive technical stakeholders like CTOs and CPOs to influence product roadmaps.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Nice to Have

Background at a hyperscaler, foundation model lab, or large independent software vendor in a strategic accounts role.
Experience managing marketplace, embed, or co-sell motions.
Prior experience leading forward-deployed engineering teams or coaching engineers into customer-facing advisory roles.
Public speaking and executive briefing presence.
