Role Overview

Anthropic is looking for a hands-on legal expert to share ownership of the global trademarks and domains practice. Operating at the fast pace of the artificial intelligence industry, this position involves handling clearance, prosecution, portfolio management, and enforcement while working closely with internal legal colleagues, outside counsel, and various business units. Key Responsibilities

Conduct trademark clearance for new features, products, and model names, offering risk-rated recommendations that allow teams to proceed quickly.
Coordinate global trademark prosecution and portfolio strategy with outside counsel, covering filing strategies, maintenance, and office actions.
Lead comprehensive enforcement for trademarks and domains by evaluating potential infringements, selecting proper remedies, and driving resolutions.
Supervise the online brand protection program alongside external vendors and legal specialists to address impersonations and infringements at scale.
Direct domain portfolio strategy, which includes handling acquisitions, recovery efforts, and disputes.
Address inbound trademark demands and provide support for relevant litigation matters.
Counsel go-to-market, marketing, and product groups regarding brand usage and naming conventions.
Establish processes and playbooks to support a lean team running a global brand protection practice.

Requirements

Possess a law degree such as a JD, LLB, or equivalent, and satisfy local licensing requirements for in-house counsel in the working jurisdiction.
Demonstrate substantial practice experience in domains and trademarks covering clearance, enforcement, portfolio management, and prosecution.
Bring current, hands-on experience in shaping filing strategies, performing clearances, and making enforcement decisions independently.
Show a track record of managing global trademark and domain portfolios, including UDRP proceedings and online enforcement.
Exhibit sound judgment in prioritizing matters and explaining complex legal reasoning to both legal and non-legal partners.
Work collaboratively across legal, business, and external counsel teams.

Nice to Have

Ten or more years of domain and trademark practice experience.
Prior in-house experience within a technology company, emphasizing partnership with business teams to ensure risk-adjusted speed.
Background in protecting brands within the AI sector or other rapidly evolving technology spaces.
Experience in building or scaling high-volume takedown and enforcement programs.
Familiarity with navigating brand disputes that involve commercial, community, or publicity dimensions.

Salary and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $335,000 to $385,000 USD.
