About this role

Managing complex financial compliance and establishing regional accounting operations across the Asia-Pacific region presents a significant challenge as Anthropic scales its international presence. Operating as the first hire in the Singapore hub, this team member establishes the framework for local statutory compliance across entities in Singapore, Japan, Korea, Australia, and India, with an initial concentration on the first three. Daily responsibilities involve reviewing monthly financial statements, executing consolidation processes, handling foreign exchange transactions, and partnering closely with US-based teams to integrate regional operations with global workflows.

Success in this function requires a combination of technical accounting rigor, cross-cultural collaboration, and comfort with ambiguity when building processes from the ground up. Individuals who thrive here typically demonstrate high ownership, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to independently identify and solve problems while adapting to evolving organizational needs.

What you will do

  • Build and implement frameworks for local compliance across APAC entities to ensure alignment with statutory requirements and global standards.
  • Establish and maintain procedures for monthly financial statement review, including local flux analysis and variance explanations.
  • Execute monthly consolidation processes, intercompany eliminations, and journal entry preparation to support accurate group-level reporting.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and develop transfer pricing documentation to support ongoing global scaling.
  • Handle foreign exchange transactions and build monthly processes for currency consolidation and risk management.
  • Perform comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations and support local statutory audits by coordinating with external auditors.
  • Partner with US-based teams to integrate international operations and leverage technology to drive finance transformation and automation.

What you need

  • Bring 8 or more years of accounting experience, ideally within high-growth environments involving multi-country exposure across the APAC region.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or possess equivalent practical experience.
  • Maintain a professional accounting certification such as CA, CPA, or ACCA.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and local statutory frameworks in at least one of Singapore, Japan, Korea, Australia, or India.
  • Show proficiency in ERP systems such as Workday or NetSuite, along with experience building accounting workflows.
  • Exhibit strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills suited for a globally distributed team.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience at a high-growth technology company focused on international operations
  • Bring foreign exchange experience including hedging strategies and currency risk management
  • Familiarity with complex group structures and multi-jurisdictional consolidations
  • Knowledge of AI and machine learning company dynamics and business models
  • Enthusiasm for leveraging AI tools to drive automation and process improvement
