About this role

Role Overview

Runlayer is seeking an Integrations Engineer to join the team in a hybrid capacity in New York City or remotely across US timezones. This full-time position is ideal for an experienced developer who wants to own the product's coverage surface, making diverse AI clients, agent frameworks, and MCP servers function seamlessly through the control plane.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the complete lifecycle of integrations, covering the design, creation, deployment, monitoring, and debugging of connectors across client applications, agent frameworks, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.
Ensure major AI clients like Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex, and Copilot operate at a first-class level through Runlayer, handling areas such as authentication, policy enforcement, hooks, and session extraction.
Equip agents built on any agent development kit with robust identity, governance, and observability features, including agent accounts and accurate attribution of MCP calls.
Maintain the reliability of over fifty third-party MCP connectors by catching upstream breaks and auth regressions proactively, while guiding administrators through necessary migrations safely.
Oversee end-to-end reliability through release smoke-tests, active monitoring, and rapid debugging during critical production events.
Develop the OAuth broker utilizing TypeScript and Express to manage OAuth 2.1 flows, alongside internal tooling designed to scaffold, validate, and publish new integrations efficiently.
Collaborate across product, partnerships, and customer success teams while helping scale the integrations engineering department.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience building integrations, software development kits, or developer-platform connectors, paired with clear expertise in partner API design.
Deep, expert-level understanding of OAuth 2.1, including hands-on implementation of authorization servers, token brokers, or multi-provider authorization workflows.
Strong fluency within the agent ecosystem, demonstrated by building or operating MCP servers and shipping applications on at least one major agent framework.
Proficiency in both TypeScript and Python programming languages.
Proven history of designing integration test suites that execute against live third-party APIs requiring authentication.
A strong operational mindset focused on production ownership, treating system reliability as a primary goal, and tracing complex issues to their root cause.
Experience maintaining a catalog, registry, or marketplace of third-party integrations complete with versioning, deprecation policies, and migration frameworks.
An AI-native daily workflow that delegates genuine tasks to intelligent agents.

Nice to Have

Previous contributions toward the Model Context Protocol specification or an established agent framework.
Direct background in scaling or operating a partner or integrations engineering team.
Familiarity with enterprise identity protocols including single sign-on and System for Cross-domain Identity Management, as well as enterprise policy enforcement.
