Role Overview

xAI seeks an Infrastructure Security Engineer for its security team in Tokyo, Japan. The professional in this position will handle critical infrastructure security across multi-cloud and hybrid environments, supporting systems connected to SpaceXAI, X Social, and X Money. The operations rely on an automation-first approach to harden platforms at scale and integrate security into engineering workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement secure container standards and automation to support developer workflows.
Maintain Kubernetes security in alignment with current industry best practices.
Collaborate with development teams to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and manage code scanning platforms.
Monitor and respond to security events and incidents across cloud and hybrid setups.
Maintain SIEM data pipelines to ensure reliable alerting.
Build, deploy, and maintain security operations infrastructure using Python, Terraform, and configuration management tools such as Puppet.
Create dashboards and alerts based on security metrics.
Develop and maintain cloud security policies, standards, and procedures.
Manage end-to-end security projects by identifying issues and executing solutions.
Monitor emerging cloud security threats and corresponding mitigation strategies.

Requirements

Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Three to five years of experience working in cloud security, infrastructure security, or related roles.
Strong understanding of cloud security principles, compliance frameworks, and best practices.
Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) along with its security services.
Demonstrated experience securing hybrid or multi-cloud environments, including IAM and overall security posture.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
Knowledge of containerization technologies, network security concepts, and protocols.
Scripting proficiency in languages such as Python and Bash for automation and tooling.
Proactive mindset backed by strong ownership and problem-solving skills.
Residency in Tokyo or willingness to relocate.

Nice to Have

Relevant security certifications including CCSP, CSSK, or AWS Security Specialty.
Deep expertise in Kubernetes and container security.
Experience with multi-cloud environments, CI/CD tools, and GitHub Actions.
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS, and NIST CSF.
Experience with observability and security operations tooling like Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Karma, and Wazuh.
Experience building custom security tools or working with AI for cloud security monitoring.
Contributions to open-source cloud security projects.
Experience securing AI/ML workloads or working in regulated financial platforms.
