About this role

The Infrastructure Capacity Planner, Demand Planning role at Anthropic involves managing medium-range multi-resource demand forecasts for rapidly expanding computing fleets across physical and cloud environments in San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY. This position is ideal for professionals with large-scale technical infrastructure experience who enjoy building transparent, data-driven forecasting models to support cutting-edge AI research.

Role Overview

Anthropic operates an infrastructure fleet spanning various clouds, neoclouds, and on-premises sites that is expanding rapidly. The Capacity Engineering team bridges growth stages from planning to delivery. As an Infrastructure Capacity Planner on the Demand Planning team, the person in this role takes ownership of medium-range demand forecasts across multiple resource classes including accelerators, CPU, storage, network, and managed services. These forecasts directly influence sourcing, purchasing, resource prioritization, efficiency targets, and workload optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Build and manage medium-range multi-resource demand forecasts driven by model roadmaps, inference growth, evaluation volumes, and retention policies rather than simple trend lines.
Execute the plan-versus-reality loop by comparing planned allocations with observed fleet occupancy on a weekly basis to reduce variance.
Qualify incoming capacity tranches prior to signature to verify the correct shape, region, quarter, and supporting resource envelopes.
Partner closely with Finance and cost-efficiency teams to establish core drivers covering a large majority of non-accelerator spend.

Requirements

Experience performing capacity, demand, or supply planning for large-scale technical infrastructure such as cloud, HPC, hyperscale, or internal platforms.
Ability to build forecasting models independently utilizing SQL against a warehouse and Python with pandas or an equivalent stack.
Solid understanding of data center resource classes and hardware constraints.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.
Ability to work from the San Francisco or New York City offices under the company hybrid policy.

Nice to Have

Direct experience with cloud or neocloud providers involving reserved-capacity onboarding or private offers.
Demand planning or forecasting background specifically for accelerator fleets.
Data center or colocation delivery experience including power, space planning, and vendor management.
Experience with accelerator health, burn-in, collective-communications testing, or fleet-health SLOs.
Background in building lifecycle or state-machine services for infrastructure assets.
