About this role

Anthropic develops reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems that handle sensitive information at enormous scale, focusing on building privacy directly into technology from the start. This senior-level Technical Program Manager position owns and evolves the incident management lifecycle within the privacy team, directing detection, response, containment, remediation, and post-incident review for events involving personal data and contractual commitments. Professionals who succeed here excel at turning complex incident data into systemic fixes, coordinating cross-functionally across engineering, security, infrastructure, and legal groups without direct authority.

What you will do

  • Manage the end-to-end privacy incident management program by overseeing detection workflows, response processes, escalation paths, and remediation tracking.
  • Serve as the incident commander for privacy events to coordinate executive, engineering, security, and legal stakeholders.
  • Establish and run incident commander rotations within the privacy team to ensure clear ownership during high-severity events.
  • Drive post-incident accountability by capturing, assigning, and tracking action items for both tactical fixes and strategic improvements.
  • Analyze incident trends and patterns to surface systemic risks, recurring root causes, and organizational vulnerabilities.
  • Partner with Privacy Legal to assess breach notifiability against regulatory timelines and coordinate communications when required.
  • Develop and maintain privacy incident response documentation, playbooks, runbooks, and training materials as data flows evolve.

What you need

  • Have led or built incident response programs at a technology company within a high-growth or security-intensive environment.
  • Demonstrate a track record of turning incident data into organizational improvements and implementing systemic fixes.
  • Feel comfortable participating in on-call responsibilities and leading incident response during high-severity privacy events during off-hours.
  • Bring experience building and scaling operational processes from the ground up in ambiguous environments.
  • Excel at driving accountability and follow-through across multiple teams through strong influence and tracking skills.
  • Possess strong analytical abilities with experience in incident trend analysis, metrics reporting, and data-driven prioritization.
  • Communicate effectively under pressure when coordinating across technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.

Nice to have

  • 7+ years of experience in technical program management, incident management, or security/privacy operations
  • Familiarity with privacy regulation and breach-notification obligations such as GDPR, CCPA, or HIPAA
  • Comfort working with legal counsel under privilege or possessing a legal background
