About this role

Your days will be split between leading hands-on technical training sessions and building the foundational infrastructure to scale instruction across the company. You will spend your first year primarily in the classroom teaching software engineers, architects, and technical practitioners how to build effectively with Claude, while simultaneously managing a small bench of instructors and establishing quality standards.

Anthropic needs this dedicated technical instruction function to turn distributed teaching efforts into a centralized capability. As demand grows among customers and partners who want to maximize their use of Claude, the person in the role will define the observation rubrics, dry-run protocols, and train-the-trainer programs that allow technical education to expand globally. A successful candidate acts as both a player and a coach, combining credibility in production software engineering and recent AI development with a proven track record of managing trainers and designing educational frameworks.

What you will do

  • Lead hands-on technical sessions for new engineers, field teams, and partner cohorts across various group sizes.
  • Hire, develop, and manage internal instructors and curriculum developers while overseeing contractor renewals.
  • Establish quality benchmarks by owning observation rubrics, dry-run protocols, and instructor certification processes.
  • Scale training output through comprehensive train-the-trainer programs designed for internal experts and external partners.
  • Convert raw technical expertise from internal teams into functional educational sessions and interactive labs.
  • Staff external programs with vetted instructors and maintain strict quality control over instructional delivery.
  • Track learner pass rates per instructor on a monthly basis and take appropriate action to ensure consistency.

What you need

  • Bring 8 or more years of professional experience across software engineering, solutions engineering, technical education, or developer advocacy.
  • Demonstrate at least 4 years of hands-on technical instruction teaching engineers live in interactive settings.
  • Possess production software engineering experience with the ability to discuss architecture and debugging credibly with senior engineers.
  • Show recent hands-on AI development experience building or debugging applications with LLM APIs or agent frameworks within the last three years.
  • Exhibit people leadership experience managing instructors or technical professionals, including hiring and performance management.
  • Demonstrate experience designing or running train-the-trainer programs, instructor certifications, or observation frameworks.

Nice to have

  • A portfolio of taught sessions and designed rubrics or certifications
  • Experience building an instruction or developer-education function from scratch
  • Experience managing a contractor instructor bench or clearing regional instructors from recordings
  • Daily use of Claude Code, agentic coding tools, or platforms like Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry
  • Deep enthusiasm for AI and commitment to responsible development
