Role Overview

Snorkel AI is looking for a Head of Security to establish and direct the entire security organization from the ground up in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid work model. This leadership position is tailored for an experienced security professional who thrives in a hands-on builder environment and wants to shape the future of high-performing frontier AI systems.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement Snorkel's comprehensive security strategy, goals, and roadmap across infrastructure, compliance, and application domains.
Build, recruit, and lead a scalable security organization while reporting directly to the CTO.
Oversee cloud security posture and architecture across AWS, including network segmentation, IAM, encryption, and landing zone design.
Embed security seamlessly into the product development lifecycle, addressing AI and ML-specific threats like data protection, prompt security, and training pipeline integrity.
Manage governance, risk, and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001, owning third-party risk and customer security reviews end-to-end.
Partner with executive leadership and cross-functional teams across Legal, Sales, Operations, and Engineering to support enterprise trust and unblock business growth.

Requirements

Bring ten or more years of technology security experience, featuring substantial leadership scope at the director level or above.
Possess a proven background in building and scaling security teams from a founding state to a mature organization at a high-growth technology company.
Demonstrate deep technical proficiency in cloud and infrastructure security, application security tooling, and secure software development lifecycle integration.
Show direct familiarity with emerging AI and ML security risks, such as model security, data pipeline protection, and prompt injection.
Hold a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, with advanced degrees considered a plus.
