The Battlespace Awareness Command and Control Software team focuses on building advanced routing and autonomous mission execution layers within Lattice OS. Engineers in this position prototype and deploy sophisticated planning algorithms, trajectory optimization tools, and multi-agent coordination systems for unmanned platforms operating in complex environments.
This role exists to scale the company's defense technology capabilities by delivering resilient path planning and decision-making architecture that operates reliably under uncertainty. Success in the position requires deep subject-matter expertise in guidance, navigation, and control, coupled with a strong desire to measure success through deployed solutions rather than theoretical research alone.
What you will do
- Define and influence the technical direction of a small team within the Command and Control Software organization using expertise in path planning and route optimization.
- Prototype and deploy state-of-the-art algorithms for global and local path planning, trajectory optimization, and multi-agent coordination.
- Develop high-performance software for real-time command and control systems, spanning operator-facing mission planning tools and autonomous tasking services.
- Design and implement robust planners, search algorithms, and decision-making systems that generate safe and optimal routes in dynamic environments.
- Analyze system performance via high-fidelity simulations, innovative modeling tools, and rigorous statistical techniques to validate planner behavior.
- Drive customer success by customizing algorithms and software for mission-critical use cases like collaborative autonomy and asset routing.
- Integrate path planning technologies into the broader command and control software stack from requirements definition through testing and optimization.
What you need
- Possess programming expertise in C/C++, Python, and Matlab with a strong foundation in algorithm design and mathematical modeling.
- Demonstrate knowledge of path planning techniques such as graph-based search, sampling-based planners, and grid-based planners.
- Bring practical experience in guidance, navigation, and control, trajectory optimization, or predictive models for vehicle dynamics.
- Understand applied mathematics including linear algebra, optimization, computational geometry, and graph theory.
- Show familiarity with vehicle dynamics, kinematic constraints, control theory, map representations, and large-scale geospatial data.
- Maintain eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
- Provide academic transcripts or detailed coursework information regarding academic performance in relevant technical subjects.
