Nectar is seeking a Founding Mobile Engineer to design and build the entire mobile platform from scratch for their AI-native social operating system in Palo Alto. Role Overview

As the Founding Mobile Engineer, the chosen candidate will take full ownership of the mobile experience at Nectar. This role involves establishing core technical foundations, creating scalable architecture patterns, and shipping the React Native application for both iOS and Android. Working alongside founders, product teams, and designers, the engineer will help shape both product direction and engineering standards while delivering AI-native capabilities directly to users.

Key Responsibilities

Architect, build, and launch the end-to-end React Native application across Android and iOS platforms.
Develop AI-driven mobile interfaces that deliver real-time agent interactions and actionable insights.
Formulate robust mobile architecture patterns, comprehensive testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and performance benchmarks.
Connect external APIs from major social platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Meta, along with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify.
Partner directly with product managers, designers, and company founders to define feature implementation and product vision.
Maintain top-tier reliability and application speed through rigorous performance optimization and error monitoring.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering background featuring extensive React Native proficiency.
Demonstrated history of successfully releasing high-caliber mobile apps to production environments.
Solid comprehension of mobile navigation models, state management, system architecture, and OS-specific requirements.
Practical background in connecting third-party APIs and constructing real-time data streaming features.
Ability to pivot and contribute across the wider technology stack within a fast-paced startup setting.
Independent working style characterized by high accountability, a bias for action, and comfort with undefined challenges.
Keen product instincts and a desire to influence strategic product decisions.

Nice to Have

Direct experience with native Android or iOS programming or writing custom native bridges.
Previous background working within e-commerce networks or social media infrastructure.
