Role Overview

As a Forward Deployed Engineer on the Services team, you will drive the hands-on technical delivery of advanced customer engagements. You will embed directly with enterprise clients to design, build, and deploy production-ready solutions that integrate the collaborative AI workspace into their operational environments. This position requires writing custom code, troubleshooting complex integration hurdles, and acting as a trusted advisor to technical and business stakeholders alike. The role operates out of the Tokyo office with required in-person collaboration on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Key Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end technical delivery of customer engagements, spanning discovery, scoping, architecture design, and final execution.
Build and operate custom agents, automations, data pipelines, and integrations connecting the platform with external systems.
Lead large-scale data migrations, handling discovery, data modeling, transformation logic, validation, and optimization.
Collaborate with customer engineering, security, and IT stakeholders to evaluate feasibility and make sound architectural choices.
Troubleshoot intricate issues involving APIs, permissions, authentication, data quality, and system limitations.
Formulate feedback loops with Product and Engineering teams to translate field challenges into roadmap enhancements.
Create reusable technical assets like migration tooling, reference implementations, and internal delivery frameworks.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a customer-facing engineering, forward deployed engineering, or comparable technical role.
Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, JavaScript, Node.js, SQL, or Java.
Practical experience with APIs and data integration workflows.
Demonstrated ability to guide technical discovery, assess project feasibility, and scope technical work.
Exceptional debugging and problem-solving capabilities across code, permissions, and custom configurations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills tailored for technical and business audiences.

Nice to Have

Background working in professional services, startups, or high-growth environments.
Practical exposure to deploying autonomous AI agents within business or coding workflows.
Experience designing AI-powered systems involving LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, or workflow orchestration.
History of building technical frameworks, discovery methodologies, or internal tooling from scratch.
Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines, schema mapping, and large-scale data migration scripts.
Track record of influencing product roadmaps through collaboration with internal engineering teams.
