Role Overview
The Forward Deployed Architect position at Notion in New York, New York is a full-time hybrid role within the Sales department. This position suits an experienced professional with a technical background who enjoys guiding clients through operational change and AI adoption.
Key Responsibilities
Partner directly with clients across discovery, solution design, workspace architecture, workflow creation, AI implementation, launch planning, adoption, and handoff.
Design scalable architectures that translate business goals, permission requirements, governance needs, and integrations into optimal workspaces.
Build and deploy AI-native workflows using Notion AI, custom agents, automations, Workers, Developer Platform capabilities, and adjacent AI tools.
Collaborate with Forward Deployed Engineering when advanced technical depth is necessary for API constraints, security architecture, or migrations.
Create adoption plans, enablement materials, and launch approaches to drive sustained usage and measurable business value.
Convert repeatable patterns from customer engagements into packaged solutions, templates, reference architectures, run books, and product feedback.
Act as a trusted advisor to simplify complex technical requirements and help stakeholders align on an implementation path.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Go-To-Market, Product, Engineering, Product Marketing Management, and Services leadership.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in tech services or consulting, solutions architecture, implementation, customer engineering, or a similar customer-facing role.
Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous customer goals into clear workflows, implementation plans, solution architectures, and success criteria.
Strong consultative discovery skills including mapping current-state workflows, identifying customer pain points, and defining future-state solutions.
Hands-on AI builder mindset with experience utilizing AI tools to prototype, automate, or improve business workflows.
Technical fluency covering APIs, integrations, data models, automation, enterprise systems, and developer workflows.
Project and engagement management capabilities, owning scope, timeline, deliverables, stakeholder alignment, and launch readiness.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with executive presence and customer judgment.
Bias toward action, high learning velocity, and comfort building in fast-changing AI-native product environments.
Ability to work from the New York City office on designated anchor days.
Nice to Have
Experience designing or deploying agents, automations, or AI-powered workflows with customers.
Familiarity with Notion, APIs, Model Context Protocols, Workers, coding agents, or developer platform workflows.
Background in developing discovery methodologies, reusable delivery assets, internal tooling, or reference architectures.
Experience partnering with product and engineering teams to turn field learnings into roadmap signals.
Previous experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.

Salary and Benefits
Estimated total on-target earnings range between $165,000 and $205,000 per year for New York City, which includes base salary and on-target incentive pay based on factors like experience and role complexity.
