About this role

The Power Generation Engineering team builds and activates robust fluid systems that support advanced power plants and critical generation infrastructure. Engineers in this group rapidly design, construct, and deploy complex process and utility networks, handling everything from fuel gas and ammonia to water, instrument air, and HVAC systems.

Day-to-day work involves modeling piping assemblies, running stress analysis, selecting specialized hardware, and collaborating closely with civil, electrical, and controls disciplines. Team members spend significant time on-site managing fabrication, guiding technician teams, and troubleshooting real-time plant operations during commissioning and outages.

This role suits pragmatic engineers who combine solid thermodynamic fundamentals with a hands-on field mentality. Candidates must thrive in a flat, fast-moving environment that values autonomous problem-solving, meticulous prioritization, and direct contribution to infrastructure scale.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and activate complex fluid systems for power generation plants including fuel gas, ammonia, water, air, and HVAC networks.
  • Apply principles of thermodynamics, fluid flow, and control theory to analyze and model piping assemblies using CAD software.
  • Select appropriate hardware components such as valves, pumps, tanks, and heat exchangers while authoring detailed purchase specifications.
  • Coordinate cross-functional designs with civil, structural, electrical, and controls engineering teams.
  • Manage on-site fabrication and construction projects directly in the field alongside skilled technician teams.
  • Perform real-time system planning, analysis, and troubleshooting during plant commissioning, operations, and post-outage reviews.
  • Partner with operations personnel to guarantee that final system designs remain easily understood and maintainable over the long term.

What you need

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Bring at least 1 year of practical experience working with fluid systems or process engineering.
  • Maintain flexibility for variable work schedules driven by ongoing plant operational needs.
  • Possess the physical ability to travel to other company locations as necessary.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted along with regular physical movements required for field work.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or related engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working with industrial fluid systems in a professional setting or outside the classroom project team
  • Experience with fuel gas, ammonia, water treatment, compressed air, and HVAC systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in pressurized fluid systems per ASME B31 or ASME B&PV Code Section VIII
  • Familiarity with Siemens NX, SOLIDWORKS, CAESAR II, and Python programming

Skills and tech stack
