About this role
The Data Warehouse & Streaming Infra team builds the core data platform that powers business decisions, analytics, and system safety across Anthropic. This leadership role oversees end-to-end data warehousing, real-time streaming, and processing capabilities while scaling a core engineering group to match rapid business growth. Leaders in this position partner closely with finance, product, engineering, and research to shape long-term architectural visions and maintain high performance under rapidly increasing data volumes.
Candidates joining this team will guide technical choices for batch and streaming backbones, balance immediate operational needs with scalable design, and drive hiring for senior engineering talent. Success here requires a blend of technical depth in distributed data systems, strong people management skills, and comfort operating within a high-visibility, high-change environment.
What you will do
- Lead, grow, and mentor the Data Warehouse & Streaming Infra team while fostering a culture of ownership and collaboration.
- Own Anthropic's data warehousing, streaming, and processing capabilities end-to-end, covering user experience, operations, and governance.
- Support the team in scaling data ingestion, event streaming, storage, compute, query, and reporting systems.
- Collaborate across departments to define and execute the roadmap for batch and streaming data infrastructure.
- Drive hiring by sourcing, evaluating, and closing senior data infrastructure engineers.
- Establish data quality standards, freshness and delivery SLAs, and operational processes for a high-change environment.
What you need
- Have at least 3 years of engineering management experience leading high-performing data infrastructure teams.
- Bring deep, hands-on expertise in both batch and streaming data infrastructure, including distributed log systems.
- Demonstrate a people-first leadership style with the ability to give direct feedback and grow careers.
- Possess experience owning systems with significant business or financial impact while improving reliability and scale.
- Excel at hiring and building teams from small to large sizes with sharp instincts for talent.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.
Nice to have
- Experience with Warehouse and batch technologies such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Iceberg, Spark, dbt, or Airflow
- Experience with Streaming and change data capture technologies such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, Flink, or Debezium
- Background in multi-cloud or multi-region data platforms including data-residency requirements
- Data infrastructure experience at AI or ML-intensive companies supporting model training and evaluation
- Experience building and operating observability or monitoring for data systems at scale

What is the remote work or office policy for this role?
Anthropic has a location-based hybrid policy. Staff are expected to be in one of the offices at least 25% of the time, though some roles may require more time on site.
What is the annual compensation range for this position?
The annual base salary range for this engineering management role is $405,000 to $485,000 USD.
Does Anthropic offer visa sponsorship for candidates?
