About this role

The Community Engagement Manager for Data Centers will serve as the on-the-ground presence for Anthropic in Texas, building vital local relationships as data centers are sited, built, and operated. This remote-friendly position within the Public Policy team suits a dedicated professional experienced in community affairs, local government, or large infrastructure projects who wants to shape the physical footprint of safe artificial intelligence.

Role Overview

Anthropic is seeking a Community Engagement Manager to join the Public Policy team in Austin, Texas, or working remotely with regular regional travel up to 50 percent of the time. Collaborate closely with real estate, infrastructure, communications, and sustainability teams to communicate operational plans clearly and transparently.
Coordinate charitable giving, nonprofit partnerships, and economic development initiatives within local markets.
Monitor local political dynamics and community sentiment to advise internal teams on project pacing, risks, and engagement posture.

Requirements

Background in community affairs, public affairs, government relations, economic development, or local and regional government.
Direct experience engaging with local governments and community stakeholders on behalf of large infrastructure, technology, construction, or energy projects.
Proven skill in building coalitions and earning trust with diverse groups of stakeholders through challenging conversations.
Strong verbal and written communication abilities to explain complex operational plans in plain language to the public and media.
Capability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent engagements across various markets.
Based in Texas or willing to relocate, with readiness for regular regional travel.
Minimum education of a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.

Nice to Have

Seven or more years of experience in community engagement specifically focusing on data centers, utility, energy, or large-scale industrial infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with regional and local land use, zoning, and permitting processes.
Experience overseeing corporate social responsibility programs.
Established connections with civic, workforce, or economic development organizations in covered markets.
Background collaborating simultaneously with legal, real estate, communications, and policy teams.

Skills and Tools

Stakeholder mapping and community sentiment monitoring.
Public speaking, town hall facilitation, and media relations.
Cross-functional project management across policy, infrastructure, and sustainability.
Strategic planning for corporate social responsibility and community investments.
