Capacity Deployment Lead - Data Center Operations
About this role
Professionals who thrive on hands-on hardware delivery, enjoy frequent travel, and take pride in setting rigorous standards in complex environments will find this capacity deployment role deeply engaging. Operating within Anthropic's Data Center Operations team, the person in this position ensures compute infrastructure comes online seamlessly across a growing fleet of partner-operated data centers. Responsibilities span from construction kickoff and early floor access through network turn-up, integration quality assurance, hardware validation, and the final structured handover into production operations.
This role exists to bridge the gap between high-level capacity planning and physical site execution by putting boots on the ground at partner facilities. Success requires working directly with hardware vendors and operations partners to set priorities, verify results using internal telemetry and ticket data rather than self-reported status, and transform lessons learned from each deployment into standardized playbooks for future waves.
What you will do
- Own deployment outcomes for assigned sites and data-hall waves to ensure ready-for-service dates are met and risks are addressed early.
- Engage from construction kickoff to verify deployment readiness across floor access, power, network, receiving paths, and partner staffing.
- Conduct on-site inspections during key delivery, deployment, QA, and close-out phases to independently verify work quality.
- Collaborate with partner site leadership to manage rack delivery, receiving, integration QA, power-on, network turn-up, and burn-in validation.
- Validate handover gates by confirming acceptance criteria, completed burn-in, documentation, positioned spares, and active ticketing.
- Translate deployment best practices, optimizations, and lessons learned into program-wide procedures, checklists, and metrics.
- Extend the deployment program to new sites and hardware platforms by adapting standards and acceptance criteria accordingly.
- Communicate deployment status, dependencies, constraints, and risks to engineering, capacity planning, schedule owners, and leadership.
What you need
- Have eight or more years of experience in data center operations or hardware deployment as a manager, technical lead, or related role with accountability for delivery milestones.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of leading compute or network hardware deployments at large scale across multiple sites or data-hall waves.
- Possess experience managing vendors, OEMs, or contract workforces to measurable outcomes including milestones and quality gates.
- Have hands-on technical depth in server, network, and rack-level hardware to independently verify deployment quality and audit vendor claims.
- Demonstrate a history of building or substantially improving operational processes while utilizing schedule, ticket, and telemetry data to drive decisions.
- Be comfortable with heavy travel and working on site for extended stretches during delivery surges and turn-up windows.
- Possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant domain or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
- Experience with GPU/accelerator or high-density liquid-cooled infrastructure, including bring-up of liquid-cooled racks
- Experience standing up operations at a new site or data hall from commissioning handoff through first deployment
- Experience deploying more than one accelerator platform or introducing a new hardware platform into an existing deployment program
- Experience delivering deployment outcomes inside partner-operated or colocation sites where on-the-floor operations are staffed via third parties
- Familiarity with dense accelerator network cabling, optics, and high-speed interconnect at rack and pod scale
Benefits
- Annual salary range of $320,000 to $405,000 USD
- Visa sponsorship support with an retained immigration lawyer
