Role Overview

As the Business Security Director, the individual will serve as the primary security partner for WPP Open. This position operates at the intersection of platform security, product security, AI risk, and client trust. The professional will collaborate closely with product, engineering, AI, and operational teams to embed trust, resilience, and client assurance into how the platform scales.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the primary security partner for WPP Open and build strong relationships across product, engineering, AI, and architecture teams.
Translate enterprise security strategy into practical platform-specific outcomes while championing security as an enabler of innovation.
Partner with product and engineering teams to strengthen secure software development practices and evolve platform, application, and API security controls.
Shape the governance and assurance of AI-enabled capabilities, agentic workflows, AI misuse mitigation, prompt abuse prevention, and data protection.
Ensure robust controls regarding client data protection, data segregation, confidentiality, and client assurance activities for top global brands.
Support the evolution of modern identity and access security models, platform resilience, continuity planning, and recovery readiness.
Collaborate with cyber incident response teams on security events, investigations, and risk management.
Define and communicate security metrics, risk indicators, and platform security trends to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

Significant background in cybersecurity, product security, platform security, or business-aligned security leadership.
Demonstrated history of partnering with engineering, product, and business groups in fast-paced technology settings.
Solid understanding of security issues tied to cloud-native platforms, SaaS products, and modern software delivery models.
Comprehensive knowledge regarding AI security, identity and access management, API security, client data protection, and platform resilience.
Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and influencing capabilities.
A pragmatic mindset capable of balancing security mandates alongside product innovation and business goals.

Nice to Have

Background in securing AI-powered products, platforms, or digital services.
Familiarity with recognized compliance and security frameworks such as ISO 27001, ISO 42001, SOC2, NIST AI RMF, or OWASP AI Top 10.
Hands-on experience working with cloud environments like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
Professional security certifications including CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or equivalent credentials.
