This role exists within the Beneficial Deployments team, which focuses on bringing AI into sectors like education, global health, and life sciences to support communities that need it most. Team members collaborate directly with flagship research partners to accelerate scientific progress from early discovery through translation by an order of magnitude.
What you will do
- Partner deeply with flagship life sciences research institutions to understand scientific workflows end-to-end and build hands-on with engineering teams.
- Take projects from early exploration to production systems integrated into daily scientific operations.
- Develop reusable ecosystem infrastructure including domain-specific MCP servers, instruments, scientifically-grounded benchmarks, and agent skills.
- Identify deployment challenges such as heterogeneous data and auditability requirements to feed findings back to product, engineering, and research.
- Create technical content and documentation to enable partner self-service and global scalability.
- Prototype agents that fit into real research pipelines alongside partner engineers.
What you need
- Bring four or more years of experience as a software engineer, forward-deployed engineer, or technical founder with production shipping history.
- Possess deep research experience in life sciences, biomedical research, or scientific computing.
- Demonstrate experience building LLM-powered tools or applications involving prompting, context engineering, agent architectures, or evaluation frameworks.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.
- Show builder credibility through shipping production code as a software engineer, forward-deployed engineer, or technical founder.
