Anthropic is building reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems designed to be safe and beneficial for society. The Startups Applied AI team is expanding to help founders and engineering teams integrate the Claude Developer Platform as they scale from early products into production.
As an Applied AI Architect, you will act as a technical partner to startups, guiding them through technical discovery, evaluations, and architecture design. You will work alongside Account Executives and product teams to translate customer requirements into functional AI solutions and gather insights from the field. This position suits professionals with a builder-first mindset who combine deep technical proficiency in artificial intelligence with strong customer-facing experience.
What you will do
- Partner with Account Executives to understand startup requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the Claude adoption journey from initial evaluation to deployment.
- Win technical evaluations by demonstrating why Claude functions as an optimal foundation for specific use cases.
- Build technical credibility with founders and engineering teams by understanding build patterns and guiding architecture decisions.
- Gather insights on how startups build with Claude to deliver feedback directly to Product and Engineering teams.
- Travel to customer sites, startup-focused events, and industry conferences for workshops and technical deep dives.
What you need
- Five plus years of experience in technical customer-facing roles such as Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, or technical founder.
- Demonstrated experience working with startups or high-growth technology companies.
- Strong builder credibility through software engineering experience or technical founding roles.
- Deep technical proficiency with building and scaling AI products with a pulse on AI engineering best practices.
- Hands-on production experience building and deploying LLM-powered applications with context engineering and evaluation frameworks.
- Strong technical communication skills to translate complex AI concepts for founders and engineering teams.
- Comfort working with Python and familiarity with common LLM frameworks, tools, and integration patterns.

What is the remote work or office policy for this role?
Anthropic maintains a location-based hybrid policy where staff are expected to be in one of the offices at least 25% of the time, though some roles may require more frequent in-office presence.
What is the compensation range for this position?
The annual On Target Earnings compensation range for this role is £165,000 to £190,000 GBP, which includes both sales commissions or bonuses and the annual base salary.
Will Anthropic assist with a visa if I am hired?
Anthropic does sponsor visas and retains an immigration lawyer to help, making every reasonable effort to secure a visa if an offer is extended.
