Role Overview

The AI Solutions Architect position at Shelf.io in New York City is a full-time technical role reporting to the Director of Solutions Architecture within the GTM department. This customer-facing opportunity suits an experienced enterprise technology professional with a background in solutions architecture, technical pre-sales, or data engineering who wants to guide complex generative AI deployments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead technical discovery sessions to analyze customer data environments, security needs, and deployment constraints.
Translate enterprise data and AI challenges into clear, deployable target architectures.
Act as the primary technical authority for senior customer stakeholders throughout the sales cycle.
Define success criteria and manage proof-of-value pilots utilizing real customer data.
Build reference architectures that guide customers from initial pilots through production deployment.
Partner with Account Executives and Customer Success to facilitate smooth onboarding and account expansion.
Gather structured feedback from the field and relay insights directly to the product and engineering departments.
Create reusable reference architectures, ontology templates, and best practices.

Requirements

Bring 12+ years of overall experience, with 7-12+ years specifically in solutions architecture, technical pre-sales, enterprise architecture, or data and AI engineering.
Demonstrate a strong command of data modeling, data platforms, ETL pipelines, Large Language Models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, and agent-based systems.
Possess deep understanding of enterprise architecture, security protocols, integrations, and deployment strategies.
Maintain working knowledge of cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
Show exceptional ability to communicate complex technology to senior leaders including CTOs and Enterprise Architects.
Demonstrate hands-on proficiency with modern AI development tools like Claude Code or Cursor.

Nice to Have

Direct experience with knowledge graphs, ontologies, or semantic technologies.
Background as an ex-technical founder or experience working at a fast-paced, high-growth startup.
A scrappy, resourceful mindset with a bias toward action and prototyping solutions.
