AI Silicon, Analog CAD Engineer
About this role
Managing the installation, configuration, and integration of specialized CAD environments makes up the core of daily operations for this role. Team members drive the setup of foundry-provided Process Design Kits, build agentic AI-based analog workflows, and configure schematic and layout editor tools to support high-performance hardware development.
Unconventional operates with the mission of redesigning computing to deliver energy-efficient artificial intelligence infrastructure. Engineers tackle complex challenges at the intersection of architecture and silicon, mapping neural networks directly to device physics. Individuals with extensive background in analog computer-aided design and electronic design automation tool administration fit well within this foundational R&D environment.
What you will do
- Drive the full installation, configuration, and integration of computer-aided design environments for analog and digital teams.
- Develop agentic artificial intelligence-based analog workflows to improve productivity and design quality.
- Manage the installation and version control of foundry-provided process design kits, standard cell libraries, and input-output libraries.
- Configure schematic entry and layout editor environments including bindkeys, display settings, and parameterized cell integration.
- Create and validate scripts for final graphic database system streamout and interface with foundries through the tapeout process.
- Evaluate new tools, manage revision control systems, and provide visibility across designer libraries.
- Draft comprehensive documentation detailing installation procedures, environment settings, and step-by-step run instructions.
What you need
- Hold a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Bring ten or more years of industry experience in analog or mixed-signal computer-aided design engineering and electronic design automation tool administration.
- Demonstrate expertise in installing and validating foundry-provided process design kits and standard cell libraries.
- Possess deep understanding of schematic, layout, and simulation setup across different process corners and temperatures.
- Show proficiency in setting up and debugging backend verification rule decks for design rule checking, layout versus schematic, and electrical rule checking at advanced nodes.
- Exhibit strong scripting skills in Tcl, Python, or Perl to automate design flows and data analysis.
- Maintain excellent written and verbal communication skills for flow documentation and knowledge transfer.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience creating automated flows bridging Verilog RTL, synthesis, and physical layout back into an analog design environment
- Experience administering electronic design automation tools deployed in SaaS or cloud compute environments
- Familiarity with state of the art artificial intelligence tools to accelerate chip design
