About this role

Translating complex machine learning breakthroughs into accessible, rigorous stories is the core challenge for the new AI Science Writer at Nebius Academy. This individual will help bridge the gap between deep technical research and the wider scientific community by producing weekly reviews, technical explainers, and multimedia content that make serious research understandable without flattening its nuance. Working within the Nebius Science media lab, the writer will collaborate directly with researchers, engineers, and designers to highlight emerging trends, cover major conferences, and verify technical claims.

The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical depth and editorial fluency, capable of reading papers, inspecting model architectures, and discussing details directly with researchers. Whether coming from an AI research background into journalism or possessing a computer science degree with substantial editorial experience, the person in this role will experiment with models, agents, and automation to enhance editorial workflows. This ongoing contract position offers a fixed monthly retainer, flexibility, and the potential to transition into a full-time role within an international environment.

What you will do

  • Produce scientific and technical reviews of new AI models, architectures, papers, in-house research, and industry trends.
  • Turn complex technical ideas and model architectures into clear visual narratives using infographics, diagrams, charts, and other multimedia components.
  • Interview researchers, engineers, founders, and scientific leaders across the artificial intelligence ecosystem.
  • Cover major research conferences, emerging fields, and important debates happening within the community.
  • Write and edit across multiple formats including analytical reports, features, interviews, explainers, newsletters, webinar scripts, and social content.
  • Host or moderate research webinars, interviews, and other on-camera formats.
  • Collaborate with internal researchers to verify technical claims while preserving a clear and independent editorial voice.
  • Experiment with models, agents, coding, and automation to improve research, editorial, and visual-production workflows.

What you need

  • Bring professional or academic experience in AI/ML research, machine learning engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Hold a degree in computer science, machine learning, mathematics, physics, engineering, computational science, or another relevant technical discipline.
  • Demonstrate comfort with reading technical papers, inspecting model architectures, comparing results, and discussing details directly with researchers.
  • Possess strong visual instincts to explain technical mechanisms through diagrams, infographics, charts, or other multimedia formats.
  • Write with precision and flair while utilizing large language models to support editorial work rather than replacing human authorship.
  • Be based in the European Union and authorized to work in the country of application.
