Role Overview

Instructure is hiring an AI Platform Engineer to work in Budapest, Hungary. The professional in this role will design and implement domain services and infrastructure that enable product teams to rapidly launch LLM-powered features. Responsibilities include building scalable cloud architecture and establishing technical best practices for large language model integration across educational applications used by millions.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement APIs and domain services that abstract LLM complexity for product development teams.
Build scalable cloud infrastructure for handling LLM interactions, encompassing prompt management, context handling, auditing, and response processing.
Create developer tooling and documentation to streamline service integration.
Establish organizational best practices for AI and LLM implementation regarding auditability, cost, and performance.
Collaborate with feature teams to assess requirements and deliver platform capabilities.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while participating in code reviews.

Requirements

Prior software engineering background focused on API design and distributed system development.
Experience building backend services along with REST or GraphQL APIs.
Knowledge of API security, performance monitoring, and rate limiting.
Understanding of LLM integration patterns.
Background in cloud infrastructure, with a preference for AWS.
Experience with Node.js and TypeScript, or a willingness to learn them.
Ability to meet the onsite collaboration schedule of working from the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with Thursdays strongly encouraged.
